The Society for International Bioenterprise Education and Research began in 2007 as a group of colleagues creating courses, programs and degrees in the nascent interdisciplinary field of bioenterprise.  Although they represented a global collaboration of some of the best institutions in the world, there was little history and knowledge base from which to develop these new programs merging science and business to deliver graduates to the dynamic and important bioscience industry.

Since then, the organization has held annual conferences worldwide and attracted a dedicated following of steering committee members, industry partners and alumnae connections.  Further, many of the organisation’s leaders have authored articles in peer reviewed journal documenting the emergence of the field, the importance of the discipline, and the efficacy of key program models.
